The Yomper statue, Eastney Barracks, Portsmouth
The statue was unveiled by Baroness Thatcher on 8 July 1992 to commemorate all the Royal Marines and those who served with them in the South Atlantic during the Falklands War of 1982.
The statue of ‘The Yomper’ was made by sculptor Philip Jackson. It is modelled on a photograph of Corporal Peter Robinson yomping to ‘Sapper Hill’.

It is hot!
