The Yomper statue, Eastney Barracks, Portsmouth
The statue was unveiled by Baroness Thatcher on 8 July 1992 to commemorate all the Royal Marines and those who served with them in the South Atlantic during the Falklands War of 1982.
The statue of ‘The Yomper’ was made by sculptor Philip Jackson. It is modelled on a photograph of Corporal Peter Robinson yomping to ‘Sapper Hill’.

The Princess Anne car carrying hovercraft at the Hovercraft Museum, Lee on Solent
The Princess Margaret and Princess Anne Hoverspeed vessels carried up to 400 passengers and 60 cars between Dover and France for over 30 years and were capable of 60 knots.
They were taken out of service in 2000 and replaced by a catamaran service.
