Two things put my dad in mind today: firstly it is the third anniversary of his death aged 88, and secondly the Trooping of the Colour took place.
It happened to be the Grenadier Guards turn to troop their Colour and that was dad’s regiment for seven years between 1945 and 1952.
I spend many years as a boy watching this spectacle with him and hearing stories of his exploits both at home and in places as far flung and Italy, Malaya, Egypt and Palestine.
Who doesn’t love hearing the stories of their parents when they were young?
